Many people do not like cops. They are often called pigs, donut holders and other ugly names. This is fine for people to talk like this in their own home, we all have people that we don't get along with or would rather not associate with and I understand that many people do not want to associate with cops. I never realized that hurtful things being said about cops would hurt my feelings as much as it does at times.
I am not talking about the funny fireman vs. cop videos, those are all done in fun. I am talking about when people look at me and say that they would not dream of dating/marrying a cop. A friend recently told me that she believed that all cops were wife beaters and drunks. This hurt me, I know there are some cops who fit under this category but I know there are also some accountants and some preachers who fit under this category as well. When some of my students parents found out what he did they gasped as though I had just said he was some horrible man. It hurt. After that I said I would never tell my students families what he did again. I should not have to feel this away, I am proud of who he is and what he does. Honestly I could not imagine being married to someone that worked in a cubicle at a boring job soaked with excel spreadsheets and budgets. YUCK!
All this to say it's hard being married to a man that the world loves when they are in danger and a man that they hate when they are doing something illegal. In my heart he has always been a big hearted man who does not want to harm anyone, he would rather protect the inocent.
